WAAGH! Batrep - Mike's Space Marines - 2013.12.02

I'm going to make my hobby New Year's resolution early.  I really want to try and get better at posting battle reports of my games, win or lose.  I really have been terrible at it lately because my venues for doing so have been quite in flux of late.  I won't really go into that bit because I'm not really sure how I feel about it yet.

At any rate, my buddy, Mike, and I were at Grimfoe Games tonight for Monday 40k and I challenged him to a game with my "dumb bike list with 47 models".  He agreed.  We decided to roll on one of the Adepticon missions from 2013.  The one we got was The Emperor's Will and The Scouring.  In Adepticon, the first two Objectives you place must be in your table half and they are your Emperor's Will objectives.  Random point levels are used for The Scouring as well.  Note that we used the Mysterious Woods, Mysterious Objectives, and Night Fighting rules.

Here's my list:

Boss Vrunzogga (A.K.A Wazdakka) - 180
Warbikerz x12 (Nob, Power Klaw, Bosspole, Troops) - 340
Warbikerz x12 (Nob, Power Klaw, Bosspole, Troops) - 340
Warbikerz x12 (Nob, Power Klaw, Bosspole, Troops) - 340
Nob Boar Riders (Warbikes, Cybork Bodies) - 650
 - Doc Goremenda with Grot Orderly - 85
 - Power Klaw, WAAGH! Banner - 90
 - Power Klaw, Bosspole, Kombi-Skorcha - 85
 - Power Klaw - 75
 - Choppa/Slugga x3 - 150
 - Big Choppa x3 - 165

47 models in an 1850 Ork army? I love club night!  Note that I rolled Dust of a Thousand Worlds for my Warlord Trait.  This was obscenely lucky. I don't think I could have gotten a better trait than that one.

Awesome. Lookit all those bikes lined up for the slaughter! Glad there are no Heldrakes! I choose not to Seize the Initiative.

The Space Marines shoot a bit and the Bikerz zoom up, whittling down an Assault Squad.

Not enough bodies and suuuuch a poor leadership! Two units of Bikerz are falling back, one is in assault, but the Nobz clear a path through the Marines' front line.

On the next turn, Mike forces an auto-fail leadership test on one of the fleeing Bike squads with his Thunderfire Cannon and my small bike squad regroups and heads towards the Scatterfield Emperor's Will Objective.

The Sternguard and Assault Marines assault along with the Librarian. The Toughness 5 Nob Bikerz prove to be too much for the Astartes.

Boss Vrunzogga joins the Boyz to launch another assault upon the Sternguard skulking about on an objective. The Nob Bikerz go after the Stormtalon whose Assault Cannon is dangerous and is hovering, so an easy kill point.

After wiping out a combat squad in the ruin, the Nob Bikerz make their way towards the last scoring unit. I'm pleased with my ability to keep playing the shell game with my Nob Bikerz, keeping unwounded guys facing the greatest danger.

I take a huge risk here ignoring the Thunderfire Cannon, but if I kill these troops, I'll win The Scouring on Kill Points.

The Thunderfire Cannon misses the Bikerz holding my Emperor's Will objective on turn 6 and then only deal one unsaved wound to the Nob on turn 7. I wipe out the Space Marines' last Tactical Squad. All that remains in the end are 5 Nob Bikerz with a total of 6 wounds, Boss Vrunzogga with 1 wound, the Stormraven, a Rhino, the Thunderfire Cannon, and the squad with two bikes cowering behind the wall on my Objective.

The Orks had NO business winning this game, much less with the full 23 points.  However.t it was a fun and close one which went back and forth. What more can you ask for from a game of 40k?

Ordo Draconis Armies on Parade

As I finish up models that have been sitting in my queue, I've been doing army shots including them. Last week, I finished up the knight models I had lying around. The lore for Knight House Draco has advanced in the Era Indomitus. The house's pencheant for daemon fighting has caught the eye of the Ordo Malleus and they have been brought into the fold. Their worlds have been put under communications blackout and household forces sworn to the crusade against the Ruinous Powers. They are now known as the Ordo Draconis and even Greater Daemons tremble at the mere mention of their name. Tiamat Drogon Gojira Melificent Falcor Smaug Jabberwocky Jormungandr The Eye Stalkers

How Did it Come to This? 10,000 Points of Painted Orks

One can only make so many milestone posts before people eventually get soul-crushingly bored of them.  However, I'm going to make an exception here because with my Vengeance Batteries, I've reached a total of 10,000 points painted with my Orks.  These points include reasonable upgrades, but not ridiculous add-ons like Kill Kannons for the Battlewagons.  Let's not be silly . Here's a video of the army.  Unlike the one I did for 7,000, this does not include a running commentary of each unit.  I simply cannot find the time to do that.  However, at the end of the post, please find a complete army list. Please try to view in YouTube instead of this embed because I uploaded it at full resolution and it took me forever.  You won't be disappointed! I started playing this game in 2010 when some friends and I suddenly realized that we finally had grown-up jobs and could actually afford it.  I'd always danced around the idea of collecting Orks either for F

2021 in Review and Looking Forward

Newly-painted models of 2021 Hobby progress was largely successful in 2021 with a huge focus on repainting old Orks into the new scheme.  Album for fully painted models of 2021: https://photos.app.goo.gl/CPwtmvia5UQLguka8 Album for repainted models of 2021:  https://photos.app.goo.gl/WxGgtThxS7M6bdmp6 By the numbers: Points fully painted: 4457 Models fully painted: 132 Points repainted: 5467 Models repainted: 205 Total points: 9924 Total models: 337 After completing all the repaints, I managed to get some army shots of the Orks, which doesn't include the new Megaboss or the Bossbunker, but it's most everything else, about 26,000pts in new money: Morkers Morkers Dreadmob Gorkers Mercenaries and Misc. 2022 For 2022, I have a lot of projects on the burner including more Orks, a Cities of Sigmar project, and Tau. As usual, the Rogue Trader idea keeps percolating and collecting one kit at a time in its little, plastic container. Orks: 9x Killa Kans 3x Deffkoptas (also need to rebase
